A tight and nice first edition of the first book from this English-born Canadian church figure (1861-1953), the long-time Dean of Halifax and Prolucutor of the Lower House of the General Synod, as well as author of several other books. "Vestal Virgin" is a book-length poem set in second century A.D. Rome. Bookplate on inside front wrapper of noted Wisconsin collector Royal D. Tyrrell (1891-1964). Accompanied by an Autograph Note Signed ("The Author") from Llwyd, 1p, heavy stock 5½" X 3½" correspondence card, "Dean's House / Halifax," n.d. Very good. Faint age toning, with paper clip rust mark at right. Boldly penned note in black ink transmitting this booklet: "To 'Papa' With Xmas greetings & best New Year's wishes from his aff[ectionate]-son-in-law The Author.." Scarce. .
