Author: GRAVES, Robert Title: Collected Poems 1965
Description: London, Cassell, 1965. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue cloth with gilt lettering, dust jacket. (16pp), 450pp. Near fine/very good. Faint jacket edgewear. Tight, attractive first of this edition -- with a strange addition: Laid in loose among the text pages are 27 additional poems, all neatly typed in red on sheets of the same trim size as the book, bearing, each bearing a titled poem by Graves. Why someone would go to so much effort to neatly type out all of these published poems like this and insert them is a puzzle. Were these simply typed by a manic Graves groupie? Or perhaps an editor with Cassell was working on an expanded edition of this title and wanted to envision these additional poems in these specific spots? These typescripts bear no handwritten changes or corrections to link them to Graves himself, so these additions will have to remain a riddle wrapped in a mystery. An unusual extra-illustrated copy, in any case!.
