Description: Washington, DC, Adjutant General's Office, War Department, 1863. Handbill. 16mo. 3pp. Very good. Minor age toning. A handsome and lengthy (at three pages) General Order containing the trial proceedings conducted by Brigadier General R.B. Potter in Cincinnati, Ohio for Confederates William F. Corbin (charged with "Recruiting men within the lines of the United States forces for the so-called Confederate Army" in Kentucky) and T.G. McGraw (same charge, same place) -- both found guilty and sentenced "To be shot unto death." Signed at the conclusion in type by Adjutant General A.E. Burnside and approved by Lincoln. Accompanied by a Civil War-era 4 3/4" X 8" heavy stock steel-engraved head-and-shoulders portrait of a stern Burnside. Very good. Moderate age toning. A fine pair. .
