A bright and handsome General Order, issued 1 July 1864, whose cover page briefly notes that it concerns "the cost of clothing and camp and garrison equipage for the Army of the United States.. with the allowance of clothing to each soldier during his enlistment, and his proportion for each year.." The remaining numbered pages consist of a detailed chart itemizing every last item of clothing and camp equipment and their cost for every type of soldier. The wide foldout chart is titled "TABLE specifying the money value of Clothing allowed to the Army of the United States" and continues this fascinating elaboration of items and their cost to the soldier. Scarce and unusual. .
