Title: 1964 Nobel Prize Awards
Description: Chicago, Walter Schwimmer, n.y. Paperback. Folio. Stiff wrappers with clear mylar overlay, white plastic comb binding. (22pp, heavy stock, rectos only). Illustrations. Very good. Plastic comb binding chipped and partial, though functional; internally clean and near pristine. Probable sole printing of this oversize large print prospectus concerning "The greatest honor our civilization can bestow on the achievements of man.. To be presented for the first time on American television" and "Produced as a one hour on-the-spot television documentary.. and Telecast in prime time over the Nationwide Network of the American Broadcasting Company.." A most unusual promotional piece for the first documentary of its kind on this event, with background information on Alfred Nobel, illustrations of the 1964 winners, blow-by-blow account of the documentary, etc. Alistair Cooke would serve as master of ceremonies. Purpose of this booklet was to find underwriters to pay for the production "at a flat figure of $200,000.00, net." Fascinating and uncommon. Schimmer (1903-89) was a pioneer radio and television producer and founder of Television Business Inc. in Chicago. .
