Title: Use-over Nursery Rhymes
Description: Chicago, The King Company, 1950. Paperback. Illustrations by Helen Strimple. Music arranged by Emma Langworthy. Small 4to. Stiff heavy stock yellow wrappers printed in red and blue with blue plastic comb binding. (Ca. 50pp). Illustrations (some color). Very good. Faintest bit of edgewear. Tight and handsome later printing of this novelty. Each nursery tale is told on one page, followed by a full-page color image of that story side by side with the same image in outline form only on glossy stock (notes the front wrapper, "Color the Same Picture as Often as You Like / Mistakes Rub Off with Ease"), and lastly the same story is given in rhyme on one page, with a piano keyboard and xylophone with printed numbers corresponding to numbers below the rhymes. Included are most of the standards: Little Bo-Peep, The Cat and the Fiddle, Wee Willie Winkie, Three Wise Men of Gotham, Mistress Mary, Quite Contrary, The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, Jack and Jill, Little Tommy Tucker, etc. As the front wrapper proclaims, "A Fascinating Educational Book in Four Colors." Plastic comb bindings of this vintage seldom survive in as superb a condition as this. .
