Tight, handsome first edition of this study by the noted University of Chicago geographer and cartographer (1862-1932). Inside front wrapper bears the handsome bookplate of The Union League Club of Chicago, and below this is printed "Presented by" and signature of H.B. BARNARD. Barnard was a prominent Chicago builder responsible for the Chicago Theological Seminary and for Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House; he was also a trustee of the University of Chicago. Harrison Bernard Barnard's father William Edwin Barnard founded W.E. Barnard and Son in 1892, and in 1907 when the son took over the name changed to H.B. Barnard Company. Scarce title with an interesting provenance. .
