Title: A Promise of Justice
Description: New York, Hyperion, 1998. Hardcover. Small 4to. Yellow cloth spine and black paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. viii, 258pp. Near fine/near fine. A tight and handsome first edition of this "Eighteen-Year Fight to Save Four Innocent Man," as the front jacket panel proclaims. Not only have both authors signed (in blue ballpoint and purple fineline, respectively) the front flyleaf -- but two of the book's four subjects, Dennis Williams and Kenneth Adams (who dates his "9-3-98"), have also signed in ink as well. Williams, Adams and two other Chicago black men were falsely accused of a 1978 rape and double murder, convicted and imprisoned -- Protess and Warden headed the team that proved their innocence and got them released. .
