Description: This Scottish-born Presbyterian clergyman was a philosopher and proponent of the Scottish School of Common Sense; a noted professor of philosophy, in 1868 he became president of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University), serving until 1888. Clipped "Yours" and bold signature, 4" X 1" lined slip, n.p. n.y. Very good. Dozen or so words ("the privilege and at these meeti[ngs] / of intellectual life.") in his script on the verso. .
