Laid in is a Typed Letter Signed in Spanish from Santovenia, 1p, small 4to, Havana, Cuba, 1955 March 1. On letterhead of "El Presidente del Banco de Fomento Agricola e Industrial de Cuba," Santovenia thanks Lincoln/Civil War scholar Arnold F. Gates (1914-93) for reviewing this book in the "Lincoln Herald" and discusses Marti's views on Lincoln. Also laid in are three Typed Letters Signed from noted Civil War and Lincoln scholar E.B. "Pete" Long (1920-81) regarding Gates' review of this book. Each 1p, 8˝" X 11", Harrogate, TN, dated between 13 December 1953 and 2 May 1954, all on "Lincoln Memorial University" letterhead, all contain meaty content to Arnold Gates regarding Santovenia's book and other Lincoln and Civil War bookish matters. The first two are signed simply "Pete" in brown ink and the last signed in full. A superb copy of an uncommon title and fine letter from this important Cuban historian, journalist, politician and writer (1889-1968). .
