Near the center of this, Mearns signs boldly in full in black fountain pen. Mearns (1899-1981) was the noted Chief of the Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress for many years, a well-known Lincoln scholar who edited "The Lincoln Papers" (1948), "Three Presidents and Their Books" (1955) and "Largely Lincoln" (1961), among others. Inside left consists of the program itinerary, inside right a thumbnail biography of Mearns, outside rear wrapper a list of noted deceased CWRT members. From the collection of noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar ARNOLD F. GATES (1914-93; CWRT president 1965-66). A handsome and unusual memento. .
