TLS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Winnetka, IL, 1948 January 26. Addressed to noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar ARNOLD F. GATES (1914-93). Near fine. On "phototronics inc" letterhead, Ott chats with one of the earliest admirers of his work: "I.. am glad to hear you found the Popular Mechanics article interesting and like this type of work. I have a number of assistants helping me at the present time, but as our organization is growing rapidly, I anticipate needing additional help before too long. I will be glad to have you give me a little more of your background, particularly concerning photography.." Bold full signature. Early and unusual and rather uncommon!.
