No place or year indicated, but from the collection of noted collector Preston Sawyer (1899-1968), California journalist and historical writer, who obtained this in San Francisco around 1930. Accompanied by a modern (1978) book photograph, a glossy 8" X 10" black and white reproduction of Nickolas Muray's 1930s portrait of Hampton, a striking head-and-shoulders study of Hampton in low-cut fur coat and jeweled tiara. .
