Author: PARKINSON, Robert L. (?-1991) Title: Typed Letter Signed
Description: This giant in the world of circus studies served as first librarian of Circus World Museum's Library and Research Center (Baraboo, Wisconsin) from 1965 until his death; under his direction their collection became the best and largest circus materials collection in the world, and in 1994 it was renamed in his honor; he served as national president of the Circus Historical Society (1966-67) and in 2002 his "Directory of American Circuses 1793-2000" was published. TLS, 2pp, 8½" X 11", Baraboo, WI, 1973 May 21. Addressed to Lyle Juneau. Very good. Enormous elaborate gilt-and-red "Circus World Museum" letterhead. Interesting fence-mending letter (signed simply "Bob") apparently regarding the visit of a couple of circus scholars to Parkinson's library and the uncordial treatment they received in his absence. "Yes, I know exactly what you mean about taking orders from everyone. We all have to learn to swing with the punches, and when we fail to do so seems to be when we get into deep water. I must confess we all misstep once in awhile though, and we should try to understand those who get crossed up in our presence.." With original envelope and small printed "Schedule of Events" ticket. .
