Description: The Game of the Century" is how the very first All-Star Game of July 6, 1933 at Chicago's Comiskey Park is described, when Babe Ruth whacked a two run home run off NFL pitcher Bill Halahan in the third inning -- and the photo of him doing so became one of the most famed baseball photos ever -- with White Sox bat boy John McBride in the background. Inscribed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Chicago, Illinois, on 6 July 1983 and with "First Day of Issue" stamped. Fine. Single 20-cent "Babe Ruth" stamp at upper right. No decorative cachet at left; no recipient's name/address. Large, bold inscription and signature in black ballpoint fills most of the entire left half: "With Best Wishes to / Paul Johnston, from / the old Bat Boy of 1933 / John McBride / The Babe was quite a guy, and also / the greatest athlete of this Century." Fine display piece. .
