Lincoln collector extraordinaire Lambert (1842-1912) used to send out lists such as this of Lincolniana he lacked; they worked, for he ended up with one of the greatest Lincoln collections in existence, though a fire in 1906 destroyed part of it. Monaghan records one such 1906 list, noting that "a variant was issued earlier" -- apparently he knew of its existence but was unable to locate a copy to record in his bibliography. This is an example of that scarce pre-1906 want list, and it consists of a simple, single column list of 108 titles. Fascinating to Most uncommon. MONAGHAN 1504 variant. .
