Author: DICHTER, Harry (?-?) Title: Typed Note Signed
Description: This pioneer of ephemera collecting spent a lifetime collecting and cataloguing old sheet music -- a largely neglected collecting field until he paved the way -- and writing such classics as "Early American Sheet Music: Its Lure and Its Lore, 1768-1889." TNS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Philadelphia, PA, 1937 December 27. Addressed to Owen Davies. Near fine. On letterhead of his company "Harry Dichter Early American Music" (featuring two negro minstrels performing) Dichter orders the book "Pursuing the Whale" by John A. Cook. Ever-vigilant collector and dealer that he was, of course he casually mentions, "Do you have any interesting sheet music. I am enclosing my 'Want List'." Usual small bold signature. An interesting figure in American music history. .
