Title: The Document in British Civilisation Studies: understanding, analysis, commentary.
Description: Ophrys, Paris, 1992. First edition, Original Wrappers. Fine. 421 pages. With illustrations. Light wear to spine, covers & corners. Spine uncreased. Former owner's name on front free endpaper. On the basis of a variety of documents ranging from songs to sermons, and including private letters, poems, cookery books and political posters, as well as official reports and government statistics, polemics in graphic or written form, maps and cartoons, this book aims at demonstrating how to produce an analysis and commentary on such documents by developing a coherent vision of British and Irish societies and their history. After a methodological introduction, the presentation of the documents is organised around four main themes: institutions and politics, the position of the United Kingdom in the world, class relations and collective identities. In each part a network of relations between the documents is suggested and model analyses and commentaries are proposed, some being fully developed. This book is meant as a methodological and practical aid for all EFL specialists. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 750 grams.
