Some leaves in the earlier hardcover volumes are loosening, some text leaves are edge frayed due to paper quality. Scholarly annotations in pencil in places. In good condition, with crisp plates throughout. ~ FIRST EDITION. A superb production comprising of over 800 finely printed plates. Collotype is one of the most accurate and attractive methods of photomechanical tonal printing processes. Highly skilled and expensive process, it cannot produce more than a limited number of impressions.
