Renowned Egyptologist Prof. Dr. Herman te Velde work was first published as a doctoral dissertation, presented to the University of Groningen, June 1st, 1967, with doctoral advisor Prof. Dr. Th. P. van Barren. Shortly thereafter the book became a classic on the subject and was reprinted in Probleme der Ägyptologie, VI. The book was reprinted again by Brill in 1977. In this paper Seth appears disorderly and uncivilised, a murderer, a homosexual and a slayer-of-the-monster, characteristics in common with that complex phenomenon of the Trickster. In the same year, Te Velde published his doctoral dissertation "Seth, God of Confusion: A Study of His Role in Egyptian Mythology and Religion" which became a classic and a standard work on the subject. Te Velde's paper was published a year later in JARCE (AEB 68617). 008-7 .
