HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary half cloth and marbled boards, spine gilt, old shelf ticket, old signature across title-page. In a very good condition. II. Atlas: Square royal octavo. Pp. 5, plus 32 double-page or folding lithographic plates, with a total of 174 illustrations and maps which are often printed in additional colours. HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary cloth and marbled boards, spine worn in places, title written in manuscript on cover; first few plates have technical terms written in ink next to the corresponding illustrations. In a very good condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. Not in Jordan who cites (1072) a later edition only. Text volume is the 4th, revised edition, 1879. The fine illustrations and excellent cartography were all stone lithographed by the master lithographer A. J. Bogaerts of Breda and are of exceptionally high quality. Kornelis Eland (1838-1927) was a noted military engineer and later Minister of War, Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion. Very rare complete set. D-3 .
