Rosier (Pieter Jacobus) Faassen, 1833-1907 was a prolific writer, actor and playwright, Knight in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. His dramatic oeuvre numbers more than twenty plays, including box-office successes like "Anne-Mie", "De Ledige Wieg" (The Vacant Crib) and the one-act play "Manus de Snorder" (Manus the Coachman). He published his autobiography "Mijn leven" in 1897 and it was reprinted several times. "De Militaire Willemsorde" is a one-act play whose main character is Van Balen, elderly veteran decorated with the Military William Order, the oldest and highest honour of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. 005-9 .
