HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary quarter calf and marbled boards, cloth French corners, spine gilt, speckled edges, label removed from first free endpaper, name cut out off title-page with the incision mark affecting two adjoining leaves with no loss, signature to title. Else in a very good condition, with neat interior and good plates. ~ Second edition. The FIRST EDITION was published in 1813. Another edition appeared in 1823 in Bruxelles. Although the title suggests the northern Netherlands, this work describes a journey in northern France (Dunkerque and Lille), Belgium, and the Dutch province of Limburg (Maastricht). With plates showing the facades of the city halls in Lille, Maastricht, Antwerp, Brussels and Ypres and other cities, as well as a panoramic view of the "Paleis der natie" in Brussels - and the Manneken Pis. Also contains a plan of the canal of St. Quentin with a view of the ship tunnel of Riqueval (which had just been built, by order of Napoleon) and the source of the Scheldt. TIMO-1 OUT .
