Georg Bruchmüller (1863-1948), a German artillery officer who fought in WWI, made a profound contribution to the theory and practice of artillery tactics, notably in respects of the concept of "neutralization", task organization, use of technology, operations security (opsec), manoeuvre co-ordination, psychological preparation, and the use of fire concentration to achieve the "knock-out punch" allowing decisive penetration by supported arms.
