In the original illustrated wrappers, upper wrapper worn, lower wrapper fine, both preserving the illustration. In a very good condition internally, still entirely unopened. ~ FIRST EDITION. A rare example of the variant illustrated wrappers, without printed text. The book appeared traditionally with text cover. Conradus Leemans (1809-1893) was the first Egyptologist to publish a systematic catalogue of all the contents of one of the major European Egyptological collections. He began the great official gouvernment publication of the monuments and papyri in the Leiden collection in 1839, which appeared in parts from then until 1882. Beinlich-Seeber 11561. 003-4 .
