HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary cloth-backed marbled boards with the original printed wrapper, abraded in places, laid down. Shelf label to spine, old institutional stamps. Good copy, very good interior, crisp maps, exceptionally well preserved. ~ FIRST EDITION. Extremely rare. The maps were published a year earlier, in 1906, by the Militär-geographisches Institut. English translation appeared two years after the original German. Translated by William Grant Macpherson, it was titled "The strategical and tactical employment of the medical service, as carried out in an army corps" and was published in London by Harrison and Sons, for H. M. Stationery Office. Maximilian Ritter von Hoen wrote extensively about military history, medicine, and tactics. In 1897 he published "Der Sanitäts-Dienst im Kriege", and in 1903 "Vorschule zur Lösung sanitäts-taktischer Aufgaben".
