Author: NORRIS, ROBERT Title: The Wigan Co-Op Gala
Description: Book Clearance Centre. 2005. Paperback, a5 yellow black text. Condition good, clean. Robert Norris' homespun Th'owd Codgers Tales were mostly written during his time as a miner, first in the Lancashire area and later as far away as Wrexham. His wry observations of the ups and downs of Wigan life came from a long association with the characters that bring his tales to life. This yarn tells of the highs and lows of a red letter day in Wigan life- the annual Co-op Gala. All the characters are fictitious, or so the author claimed. Wiganers will think differently, for we have all met the mischievous children, the pompous bandmasters, the bad tempered punch and judy man and the tipsy miners who populate this amusing tale from the good old days. Used: Acceptable.
