West Yorkshire, whose history can be traced back to the early years of the 20th Century, was another user of the Tilling-Stevens chassis, and the Atkins coverage of the fleet starts with such vehicles in the late 1920s. Leylands, Dennises and Bristols follow in an unbroken sequence of portraits extending into recent times. Again the express coaching aspect received careful attention from the photographer and we see West Yorkshire vehicles with exotic bodywork in some unexpected parts of the country. The town operation in York was not overlooked and in all this book is perhaps the best tribute yet to appear of what was many people's favourite operator.
