Description: Paris, Dionysium Thierry, 1698. Leather. 306p; 12p. A small hardcover book bound in full brown leather with gilt foredges and marbled endpapers. Covers heavily scuffed, and spine ends worn down. Ex-seminary copy, with old labels on spine and inside front cover, plus a stamp on one endpaper and very old ink notations on the title page. One blank endpaper has been torn out, and there is a small tear in the title page. All pages lightly foxed. Main text remains unmarked, and binding is tight. Good, sturdy condition for its age! A Catholic hymnal from the late 17th century, containing words only (no music, except in the last 12 pages). All text in Latin. This copy belonged to Archbishop John B. Purcell of Cincinnati (1800-1883), whose signature is on the title page. Good .
