Description: Paris, A. Combette, 1856 Oblong large folio (36x52 cm.). Contemporary half leather, spine gilt in compartments (gilt faded; leather rubbed). Covers decorated paper, on frontcover gilt title within ornemental border; with 3 (of 4) small messing cornerpieces (corners bumped and borders rubbed with loss of paper). Endpapers marbled paper (first hinge restored). (Binding warpled). Title, table and 100 maps. Title nicely illustrated and calligraphed (small stamp verso), table "Tableau statistique" and 100 maps: 86 'Dpartements' (5 maps with small brown spot in margin), 6 with'Colonies franaises', 6 continents ('Europe', 'Afrique', 'Amrique mr.' , 'Amrique sept.'Asie', 'Ocanie', 1 'Mappe-monde'(the 2 planispheres on double-page map of 50x75 cm) and 'La France' (double-page map of 65x53 cm. (folt in the middle browned; smalltear repaired. - All the 98 maps engraved on heavy paper, coloured in outline and abundantly illustrated with regional scenes, portraits, coats of arms and texts about 'statistique', 'territoire', 'clbrits', 'commerce' and 'production' and last but not least: unfolded. The 2 diouble-page maps are fully coloured. - France, by Charle, dated 1856, depicts 'Routes de la Poste', 'Chemins de Fer', 'Canaux' and 'Les Routes impriales & dpartementales'. - Beautiful interior state.
