Description: Hagae Comitum ('s-Gravenhage), Apud Petrum de Hondt, 1741 Folio (39x26 cm). Contemporary full calf, spine gilt in compartments ( leather rubbed in places, corners, spine and hinges carefully repaired); marbled endpapers. (vi),808 pp. Title printed in red and black, with woodcut-vigette; each chapter with large engraved headpiece and floral endpiece; printed in 2 columns, with 2 engraved medals (the same medal repeated). - Brown spots in places, paper age-toned, sometimes with serious spots, upper-margins of first quires frayed, but on the whole an acceptable copy. The first part (p.1-799) and the second part (Joannis Apostoli de Sanctissima Trinitate locus explanatur.. (p.800-808). (Small stamp on title and written in old ink "A l'Index". The book of Hardouin, who was a French jesuit with very paradoxical theories, was in fact placed on the Index Librorum Prohibitorum on January the 15th, 1742. - Rare . Gewicht/Weight: 3500 grs.
