With 6 plates of which 5 folding facsimiles of the letters, and handwritings of supposed authors, and 1 with the seals used by Junius. - Letters of Junius - a collection of private and open letters critical of the government of King George III from an anonymous polemicist (Junius), as well as other letters in-reply from people to whom Junius had written between 1769 and 1772. The collection was published in two volumes in 1772 by Henry Sampson Woodfall, the owner and editor of London newspaper, the 'Public Advertiser'. - Sir Philip Francis (1740-1818) is the supposed author of the Letters of Junius. - Inserted is a contemporary newspaper clipping by Edward Turner Boyd Twistleton discussing this authorship. - Top of spines slightly damaged/chipped; Coat-of-arms of Hugh Cowie on upper pastedowns, else a very good set.
