First edition, first printing, first state, preceeding the American edition; with first state points: page 8: "couple of devils" later revised to a couple of fiends" and the 32 pages of publisher's ads dated November 1881 at the rear. Could be easily recased. Blank 3396. About good, spine slant, spine worn with tears at joints, somewhat faded, boards rubbed, front board with small faded spot, armorial bookplate of Henry Hugh Munro on front paste down, preliminary list of Twain's works chipped at the top edge altering some lines on the verso, a few spots otherwise contents very good.
