When they embarked on the collection of these porcelains in the late 1970s, such ceramics had enjoyed surprisingly little academic attention. However, in the intervening years Julia Curtis has undertaken a vast amount of research in order to redress this deficiency, as evidenced by the list of her publications, which appears at the end of this introductory essay. Her work has not only contributed to several ground-breaking exhibitions, but has inspired other scholars to turn their attention towards the remarkable porcelains of the 17th century." excerpt from the introductory text by Rosemary Scott.
