Author: MISSIONS TO SEAMEN Title: Convoy X.K. 234 arrives. The War-time Story of the 'Flying Angel'. [Foreword by Admiral Sir Percy Noble].
Description: The Missions to Seamen,, 1946. 8vo., First Edition, with 32 plates on 16 and a full-page map in the text; original pictorial wrappers printed in red and black, wire-stitched as issued, a near fine copy. Known by mariners the world over as the 'Flying Angel' (from the device on its ensign), the 'Mission' made an invaluable contribution to the welfare of RN and merchant seamen during WWII. This fragile publication provides a deceptively detailed account of the 'Angel's' global effort; sadly, few copies seem to have survived, let alone in anything like this condition. Noble was C-in-C Western Approaches from February 1941 to November 1942. A rare survival.
