Published in Batsford's series 'The Pilgrim's Library' with splendid wrap-around dustwrapper artwork by Brian Cook. Contributors include Harry Batsford, Bozman, Geoffrey Clark, Fairfax-Blakeborough, Fry, Henry Warren. A pre-war classic which had to wait through the war years for the second edition (1946). A third, revised, edition appeared in 1951 but with a greatly reduced complement of plates. Eades, C75 (recording H.E. Bates' essay 'The Hedge Chequerwork' not reprinted elsewhere). Also contains 'Fens and Levels' by Adrian Bell. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
