Sm. 4to., with illustrated half-title and title, numerous fine coloured illustrations throughout, and pictorial endpapers, free endpapers mildly browned; pictorial boards, white cloth back lettered in green, corners lightly bruised else a remarkably well-preserved bright, clean, crisp copy. Bright copy of an early printing of the the author's first book (first published 1878). Printed by Edmund Evans, arguably the finest printer of British colour printed books of the late nineteenth century. Our dating is suggested by the printer's colophon (later style) on rear free endpaper recto. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
