Description: Heinemann,, [1958]. 8vo., First Edition, with frontispiece, 37 plates on 16, 22 illustrations, maps and diagrams (a number full-page) in the text and endpaper maps; handsomely bound in full navy crushed morocco, sides with gilt frame border, back with raised bands, second and fourth compartments lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments tooled in gilt with anchor motif, gilt top, hand-made endpapers, ribbon marker, original backstrip gilt mounted on new leaf at front, custom-made slip-case, a most attractive copy ideal as a gift or for presentation. THIS COPY WAS FORMERLY OWNED BY ABLE SEAMAN F. WEBBER (L.R. III) WHO SERVED ABOARD HMS TYNEDALE DURING THE ACTION; HIS SIGNATURE APPEARS ON TWO BLANK PRELIMINARIES. He was subsequently Mentioned in Despatches (though apparently not for CHARIOT since he is not so listed).
