Description: Dent,, [1909]. 2 vols., 8vo., First Edition thus, tiny contemporary uniform inscription on blank preliminary of both volumes; original series de luxe binding of full maroon leatherette, upper board elaborately blocked and lettered in gilt to an art deco design, back gilt extra, gilt top, radial corners, pictorial endpapers, marker ribbon, small worm-trail in upper joint of first volume else a near fine copy. With the armorial bookplate of Frederick Harding on front paste-downs. SOLE APPEARANCE THUS IN EVERYMAN. EL 397, 398; Seymour 802.0, 803.0. The EL full leatherette binding (1906-c.1917) faithfully reflects the art deco movement of the period. By far the most elegant of all the EL series bindings, it is notoriously fragile and seldom found in bright, sound state as here. VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
