This classic account is one of the few by a surviving glider pilot. Hagen flew on the Second Lift and fought right through, escaping by swimming the Rhine on the second Monday. His story was first published in January 1945; this is the first illustrated edition (the illustrator, Deliss, also served at Arnhem). Browning's Foreword appears here for the first time.
