Author: HARDY Thomas Title: The Well-Beloved. [Library Edition.] NEAR FINE COPY IN UNCLIPPED DUSTWRAPPER
Description: Macmillan,, 1952. 8vo., with endpaper maps in blue; original series binding of blue buckram, gilt back, red top, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter mildly age-browned at backstrip and fold -ins. Macmillan's Library Edition (1949-1952) uses the large and pleasing type of the definitive Wessex Edition (1912-1931}. It is the most elegant of the post-war collected editions, and it is to be regretted that it does not include the volumes of verse. The endpaper map, 'The Wessex of the Novels and Poems', engraved by Emery Walker, is taken from the drawing made by Hardy himself.
