THIS COPY CARRIES THE BINDER'S PLATE AND DATE STAMP (May 1833) OF JOHN BIRD ON FRONT PASTE-DOWN. A SPLENDID EXAMPLE OF AN ORIGINAL SPCK BINDING. Based in London's Hatton Garden, John Bird was a designated SPCK binder; several examples of his work are held in the British Library.
