Description: Gollancz,, [1944]. 8vo., Fourth Impression; blue cloth, gilt back, backstrip mildly faded (but all gilt wholly legible), a bright, clean copy in unclipped, mildly browned dustwrapper, the latter chipped (not affecting lettering) at head and tail of backstrip. Published two months after the first edition. Fictionalised but accurate account of the author's five months in a destroyer on the Murmansk run. Generally considered one of the finest accounts of life at sea; certainly a minor classic of WWII. ALL EARLY PRINTINGS ARE SCARCE IN THE DUSTWRAPPER. Law, 1062.
