Published in the 'Country Life' series of military histories. The first territorial division to travel overseas, the 42nd served in Egypt and at Gallipoli (May 1915 to January 1916), the Suez Canal and Sinai. Transferred to the Western Front at a time of crisis (March 1917), it fought at Ypres, Nieuport and La Bassee. It was part of the thrust through the Hindenburg Line, crossed the Selle and ended at Foret de Mormal and Hautmont. Includes ROH, honours and awards, OOB, HQ staff and officers commanding.
