The book is in Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good- dust jacket. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping - including a small, but noticeable bump to the bottom front corner. The text pages are clean and bright. The front and rear endpapers are noticeably toned and there are thin strips of further darkening (they look like tape shadows -though there is NO tape present) The gilt lettering on the spine of the book has turned a bit greenish in color and has dulled. The dust jacket has noticeable generalized toning, with darker towning to the spine and book edges. There are a couple of smallish semi-closed tears to the dust jacket edges, and some light chipping to the spine ends and top flap joints. "James Thorne Smith, Jr. (March 27, 1892 – June 20, 1934) was an American writer of humorous supernatural fantasy fiction under the byline Thorne Smith. He is best known today for the two Topper novels, comic fantasy fiction involving sex, much drinking and ghosts.
