PALMER, MRS. J. W. (EDITOR) - International Women's Club of Yokohama Bulletin

Title: International Women's Club of Yokohama Bulletin
Description: Yokohama, Japan: Motomachi Printing Services / International Women's Club of Yokohama, 1936. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Pamphlet. B&W Illustrations; February 1936 bulletin - from a periodical which was issued monthly. This is a trade sized pamphlet with medium cardstock covers and a stapled binding. The pamphlet is in Very Good condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The cardstock covers have some light bumping and beginning edge wear along with some beginning darkening / toning to the spine ends. There are several little pin hole nicks / dents to the lower spine end that look like cat nibbles. The text pages are mostly clean and bright, though there is some scattered foxing throughout. The bulletin includes information on upcoming and just finished events (in this case, the death of King George V disrupted a violin and piano recital) , lectures given - with summary (last month it was by Prof. T Okada on the subject: The Manyoshu, the oldest collection of Japanese poetry) , an outing to an exhibition of Noh Dancing, with lecture (lecture notes included) , a detailed biography of Vasili Vasilievich Vereshagin (artist) , Library Notes - a small section of book reviews and a section of advertising for a number of wonderfully European goods found in the Yokohama area. "The Yokohama International Women's Club (YIWC) was founded in 1929 at the Hotel New Grand, for the "promotion of International goodwill through cultural and social activities". Today, it is a volunteer group of English-speaking Japanese and foreign women.". Very Good .
