Author: MOORE, W. ROBERT Title: Through Java in Pursuit of Color / Java, Queen of the East Indies
Description: Washington D. C.: National Geographic Society, 1929. 1st Printing. Magazine. B&W Illustrations; This is a set of two DISBOUND articles from National Geographic Magazine. These are the actual articles, not photocopies. Actually, there is one semi- article and one series of Autochrome photographs. The first is Through Java in Pursuit of Color by W. Robert Moore and this consists of seven double-sided text pages which include nine black and white illustrations and one black and white map. The second article is a series of autochrome photographs which highlight various aspects of Java life. Text pages are clean, bright and without chips, tears, discoloration or wear. They do, however, have the necessary staple holes where staples were removed. The articles are more personal reminiscenses of the author with some basic information about the country, it's people and it's geography--not terribly in-depth. The Autochromes, however, are very nice with sharp photos of dress, and some of the most interesting areas of Javanese lifestyle, including the dancing. The autochromes are all done by the author W. Robert Moore.. Very Good .
