The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some beginning bumping and rubbing. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a previous owner's ink stamped name to the bottom edge of the text block and a small inked notation on the rear pastedown page at the bottom corner. The dust jacket has several small edge nicks and spots of rubbing and wear. "Ms. Seranne, who was born in Hamilton, Ontario, came to the United States in 1936. Writing about her on several occasions, the former New York Times food editor and restaurant critic, Craig Claiborne, called Ms. Seranne ''a born cook.' ' Among her accomplishments, Mr. Claiborne said, she ''made the best pies in the world.' 'Since Ms. Seranne admitted to having a sweet tooth, it is not surprising that many of her books concerned desserts.
