The book andlyits contents are in generaly clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light edge wear, rubbing and nicking. The covers have some spots of ground-in dirt and rubbing. The text pages are generally clean and bright. There is a previous owner's inked name and address on the front pastedown page. "James Herbert Curle (died 26 December 1942, Vancouver. B. C. ) was a philatelist who was a specialist in the stamps of Transvaal. In 1940, with Albert Basden, he was awarded the Crawford Medal by the Royal Philatelic Society London for his work Transvaal Postage Stamps. He left his collection to the Africana Museum, Johannesburg, and was a signatory to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists of South Africa. Curle was unmarried and it was said of him in his obituary in The London Philatelist that his stamp collection was his "wife and children" to him and that there was no distance he would not travel to add to his collection. Indeed, he was reputed to have travelled over two million miles during his lifetime. He was survived by his brother Richard Curle.". Very Good .
