B&W Illustrations; This book is in Very Good+ condition and is lacking the dust jacket. The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. The rear cover of the book has some discoloration to the top third of the panel. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a previous owner's set of initials on the front endpaper in blue ink. The text includes 8 black and white illustrated plates plus a black and white frontispiece, all by Fred Pegram. Several of the illustrated plates have toning to the edges. A Murder mystery, with a bit of golfing thrown in for good measure. The front cover illustration and one of the plates feature the fairly new game. "The two men stood upon the top of a bank bordering the rough road which led to the sea. They were listening to the lark, which had risen fluttering from their feet a moment or so ago, and was circling now above their heads. Mannering, with a quiet smile, pointed upwards." "Edward Phillips Oppenheim (22 October 1866 – 3 February 1946) was an English novelist, in his lifetime a major and successful writer of genre fiction including thrillers." "Oppenheim's literary success enabled him to buy a villa in France and a yacht, then a house in Guernsey, though he lost access to this during the Second World War. Afterwards he regained the house, le Vanquiédor in St. Peter Port, and he died there on 3 February 1946.". Very Good+ .
